About the Sirdar Jewelspun domino blanket knitting kit
This blanket knitting kit comes with beautiful multicoloured Sirdar Jewelspun. Because this Jewelspun aran changes colour, you can keep knitting from the same ball of wool with no colour changing required!
The technique known as modular or domino knitting, meaning that every square is knitted onto an adjoining square so you have NO sewing together.
By picking up stitches from the neighbouring squares you never have to sew any of them together. You’ll be an expert at picking up by the end of it.

The finished size of this knitting kit project is approximately 115 cm x 145 cm.

Tools you will need for this knitting kit project
- 5mm or 5.5mm knitting needles (shorter needles will be easier to work with) depending on your tension. My sample was made using 5mm
- Sewing up needle, for your ends
- Scissors

I really enjoyed making this blanket. The pattern was easy to follow. I had never used the picking up stitches technique before but once I got the hang of it I found it quite easy and it looked really neat. The wool is lovely as it changes colour meaning every section of the blanket is different and keeps it interesting to knit. I found once I had done a few of the squares I was able to continue with the blanket without having to check the pattern which is personally what I prefer as a way to switch off and relax. Only thing was my blanket turned out a bit smaller than the measurements on the pattern so I ended up buying more wool. Due to the nature of the pattern it's easy to make it bigger by just adding more squares.

If anyone is wondering you can always go up a needle size and it always pays to do a test square. A half centimetre smaller or larger for the finished square can alter your yarn usage quick alot over such a large piece.

As the title suggests, this was a gift for my mums neighbour recently out of hospital. The website was clear and even though I know absolutely nothing about knitting, I was able to choose what I felt was a good gift at the right level for the neighbour. Excellent choice of colourways, I’d have loved to have seen these represented in a full blanket so I could get a better idea of the finished product but I understand that this isn’t easy to do. I picked a colourway that I felt went with her living room and the recipient is absolutely thrilled with it. She said “thank you so much, you could not have sent me anything nicer and it will keep me busy as I recuperate”.
Alison was superb at replying to my questions quickly and kept me informed of the shipping times including looking up the tracking number and current location when I asked as well as popping me an email to let me know it had been delivered just in case I hadn’t seen the notification from Royal Mail. You really couldn’t ask for better customer service than that. Ordered and received within a week including a weekend and a minor delay due to packaging deliveries - I think that’s excellent and faster than many of the big box stores.
Thank you so much for putting a smile on my mums neighbours face during a very difficult time and right before Christmas when shipping is difficult even at the best of times. I can’t wait to see the finished result and if possible, I will send you a picture of it for your records.

I do find that Royal Mails service is pretty reliable and the tracking option they provide and that I use really does help see where the order is and provide reassurance.
