WHAT IS ALPACA?
They are four legged mammals that originate from the Andean Plateau in South America. The animals are reared for their 'wool' and not meat. Alpaca fibres are very strong, soft and silky producing very luxurious yarns and is often mixed with acrylic. You may well have seen Alpaca farms or visitor centres in the UK, I know I've spotted the long necked animals from many a roadside. Our climate suits them and they are super cute animals to rear.
