This is such a lovely soft merino yarn ideal for adult and baby garments, blankets and accessories and amazingly it is also machine washable on a wool cycle at 30 degrees. Rest assured all orders will come from the same dye lot.

WHAT IS MERINO?

Merino wool comes from Merino sheep which originated in Spain in the 15th century but is now mainly breed in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.  The sheep are breed solely for their wool, merino fibres are much finer and softer than traditional wool especially that found in the UK. Its' soft qualities make it ideal for baby garments.

WHAT IS DOUBLE KNIT or DK?

It is the term used to describe the thickness of the yarn.  Double knit is most commonly used for lighter weight adult sweaters, children's garments, hats, gloves, scarves, blankets and cushion covers and lots lots more! Also note the recommended needle or hook size is a 4mm or sometimes a 4.5mm. DK is also a popular term in the UK but in the US would be referred to as a light worsted or 6ply.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

This yarn has been treated with the Total Easy Care treatment which allows it to be machine washed on a 30 degree wool cycle.  Incredibly it can also be tumble dried too. Do take care, personally I would never tumble dry a hand knitted garment, they're too precious!
