UK Yarn Shows 2026! Where to find Knit One Kits

There are few better ways to spend a day than wandering around a yarn show, admiring other people’s projects, discovering new yarns and coming home with something lovely to make. Make a weekend of it with a group of friends or take time out on your own to browse at your own pace.

I’ll be taking the Knit One Kits stall to five UK yarn shows over the next few months, beginning in Newcastle in August and finishing near Birmingham in November. I’ll have new designs, fresh colourways and plenty of established favourites with me, along with finished samples for you to see, touch and try against yourself.

North East Wool Show: 8 and 9 August

My first stop is the North East Wool Show at Newcastle Racecourse.

More than 80 exhibitors will be gathering across two large halls, with yarn, kits and supplies for knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving, felting and dyeing. There’s also a varied workshop programme, along with plenty of seating for those really important moments like when you need to rest your feet and admire your purchases.

The North East Wool Show will be the first chance to see the latest colourway of my popular Wave Cushion Cover Crochet Kit.

I’ll also be bringing the new Moss Stitch Cable Sweater. It’s knitted in Rico Creative Melange Aran and will be available in lots of colours, with kits starting from £49. It isn’t on the Knit One Kits website yet, so the show will be your first opportunity to see it.

Southern Wool Show: 22 and 23 August

Two weeks later, I’ll be heading to Newbury Racecourse for the Southern Wool Show.

The show brings together around 80 exhibitors, alongside workshops and demonstrations covering a wide range of wool and fibre crafts. Newbury Racecourse has its own railway station, making this one of the easiest UK yarn shows to visit by public transport.

I’ll be bringing several of the blanket kits that attracted plenty of attention at the Summer Wool Show. These include the new Granny Square Crochet Blanket Kit, made in colourful Sirdar Jewelspun Aran, and a new colourway of the original Granny Stitch Crochet Blanket Kit.

For knitters, there’s the Domino Stitch Baby Buggy Blanket Kit, made with beautifully soft Lang Mille Colori Baby 4-ply merino. Both the complete kit and the individual pattern proved popular when they made their first show appearance this summer.

I’ll also have the new Criss Cross Blanket Knitting Kit. Knitted in chunky Rico Chic-Unique, it’s a cosy size for a toddler or for keeping your knees warm as the evenings begin to cool.

NEW Newark Knitting & Wool Show: 5 and 6 September

The next date in my diary is the BRAND NEW Newark Knitting & Wool Show at Newark Showground, just north of the town and easily accessible with ample parking..

More than 90 exhibitors will fill one large, spacious hall with yarn, patterns, kits, tools and accessories. There will also be workshops and free demonstrations from local guilds, so there should be plenty to see as well as plenty of temptation.

Alongside the new arrivals, I’ll have lots of Knit One Kits favourites on the stall. The Vertical Stripe Sweater Knitting Kit is always my show bestseller. It’s knitted in Rico Creative Melange Aran, a softly colour-changing yarn that makes each version a little different.

You’ll also be able to see new colours of the Catherine Wheel Stitch Cushion Cover Kit, which sold out at its first show this summer.

Yarn shows are especially useful when you’re choosing a colourful project. Photographs are helpful, but nothing quite compares with seeing the finished cushions and sweaters, handling the yarn and comparing the colour combinations for yourself. I’ll be there if you’d like a second opinion.

Yarndale: 26 and 27 September

A firm favourite amongst yarn lovers is Yarndale and I will be there this year.

Held at Skipton Auction Mart, Yarndale is one of the best-known UK yarn shows. The working auction mart is filled with yarn, textiles, finished samples and colourful decorations, with exhibitors covering knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving, felting, dyeing and many other textile crafts.

There are bookable workshops and talks, along with free drop-in making sessions. With so much to explore, it’s the sort of show where you can easily spend the whole day browsing, chatting and collecting ideas for future projects.

Christmas Wool Show: 14 and 15 November

My final show of 2026 will be the Christmas Wool Show at the National Conference Centre near Birmingham.

More than 75 exhibitors will be spread across three halls, offering everything from affordable commercial yarns to hand-dyed skeins, patterns, kits, books and equipment. There will also be workshops and demonstrations throughout the weekend.

By November, I’ll be thinking firmly about warm winter projects and Christmas making. I’ll be bringing several smaller accessory kits made with Rico Creative Melange Chunky, including the Ribbed Hat Knitting Kit, Beginner Cowl Knitting Kit and Beginner Scarf and Cowl Knitting Kit.

These are satisfying projects for colder days and useful choices if you’re planning to knit a Christmas gift. They also make lovely presents as complete kits for knitters who would enjoy making their own.

What you’ll find on my stall

One of the pleasures of visiting UK yarn shows is being able to look closely at finished projects before deciding what to make.

I’ll have samples of new designs and longstanding favourites, along with plenty of colours to compare. You can hold a cushion against a photograph of your sofa, check the size and drape of a sweater or see exactly how a self-striping yarn behaves once it has been knitted or crocheted.

I’ll be there throughout each show to help if you’d like advice about the level of a pattern, the yarn used or which project might suit you. Whether you arrive with a carefully prepared shopping list or simply want to see what catches your eye, you’ll be very welcome.
