The sample of this blanket is made with West Yorkshire Spinners ColourLab double knit. It is 100% British yarn good for the carbon footprint and is reared, sheared and spun in Yorkshire.
This version is made using stocking stitch. It is a technique is known as modular or domino knitting, every square is knitted onto an adjoining square so you have NO sewing together!! By picking up stitches from the neighbouring squares you never have to sew any of them together! You’ll be an expert at picking up by the end! The instructions clearly show how to do this.
To make this size of blanket I used 5 x 100g (approximately 225m/245yds per 100g) of double knit (using 5 colours). The finished size is approximately 90 cm x 99 cm, to avoid disappointment please check your tension at an early stage and restart if it's not matching the suggested tension.
If you don't have a lot of scrap yarn you can make the blanket smaller by either casting on less stitches. Or make fewer squares and triangles, use the chart and reduce the blanket in width and length, it's not for the faint hearted but is doable!
The blanket kit £32.50 is available to make this version - or look under the Knitting Kit section of my site. And by the way the pattern is free with the Kit version of this blanket.
